Testing and certification services are available for qualified S.K.S. members.

You must be a current and active S.K.S. member to qualify for testing and/or certification with us.

All Yudansha levels require "in person" testing or evaluation. The testing and evaluation is normally conducted by one or more S.K.S. board members, or advisers. Physical knowledge of, and the ability to actually apply, the requirements of Kenpo or a related art is a major consideration. We do understand, and accept, possible limitations on an individual case by case basis. Active time in grade is also an important qualifier. We use a fairly standard time in grade requirement. An example is as follows:
4 to 5 years
minimum
of study in a Kenpo, or related art, for Shodan level. Beyond Shodan is as noted:
Shodan to Nidan: 2 years.
Nidan to Sandan: 3 years.
Sandan to Yodan: 4 years
Yodan to Godan: 5 years.
Godan to Rokudan: 6 years.
Rokudan to Shichidan: 7 years.
Shichidan to Hachidan: 8 years.

We currently have senior Yudansha level board members, and advisers, qualified to test and certify in at least four of the major Kenpo systems. We encourage members to discuss their testing and certification needs with an S.K.S. board member or adviser.
Please note... The Society for Kenpo Studies will not circumvent any teacher/student relationship members may already have with their individual, or current, teacher. We provide testing and certification services to those qualified members who do not have the means or opportunity to obtain these services elsewhere.
